Bali - Menjangan 2007

Il Mimpi Resort si trova a nord ovest di Bali, Indonesia, immerso nel parco nazionale. Da Denpasar ci si impiega circa 5 ore ma la strada, anche se piena di curve, passa in mezzo a suggestivi paesaggi e la parte nord dell’isola sembra essere molto più ricca, le case sono più belle e le strade sono pulite. C’è poco turismo e la popolazione è a prevalenza contadina. La vegetazione è molto ricca e si sale fino a 1300 m. per poi ridiscendere verso il mare.

Il resort è immerso in un giardino molto grande e ben curato con vasche termali e due piscine, il ristorante è sulla spiaggia ed ha una buona cucina di tipo internazionale, locale e proponeva anche piatti giapponesi visto che vi erano molti ospiti provenienti dal Giappone.

Noi avevamo le stanze standard che (visto il costo) erano piuttosto piccole e poco confortevoli.

La SPA poteva essere meglio visto che il massaggio balinese non era completo anche se più costoso del solito...

Il servizio diving è molto buono anche se le barche sono molto lente (40 cv) e piccine.

Anche qui pensano a tutto loro, attrezzatura pulita e montata, acqua, bibite e spugnoni ed anche il cibo se non si vuole aspettare di rientrare e pranzare al ristorante.

Si parte al mattino per l’isola parco nazionale di Menjangan, che dista circa 40 minuti di barca dal resort, dove si fanno 2 immersioni e tra la prima e la seconda si scende sull’isola dove ci sono i cervi!

Qui il fondale è bellissimo e pieno di colori, le pareti sono piene di spugne e coralli molli e Putu, la nostra guida molto brava, si divertiva a mostrarci di tutto. C’è anche un posto con sabbia nera chiamato Secret Bay dove sono state messe delle reti di ferro per far crescere i coralli ma c’è ancora poco, molte alghe e la visibilità è pessima. Noi, a dispetto di altri che avevano delle guide non capaci e non hanno visto nulla, abbiamo visto cavallucci, antennaridi, pesci cardinali di Banka, pesci palla e un serpente.

The Mimpi Resort is located in the north-west of Bali, Indonesia, in the national park. From Denpasar it takes approximately 5 hours by road, the road meanders and curves it’s way into some amazing landscapes and countryside to the North part of the Island which appears to be the richest. The houses are beautiful and the streets are clean. There are not many tourists and the population is predominantly farm and agricultural based. Travelling to Mimpi we noticed the vegetation is luxuriant as we climbed as high as 1300 m., we then started our descent towards to the sea. The Resort is surrounded by a park and well maintained with hot springs and two swimming pools, the restaurant is on the beach and the cuisine is good, international, local and Japanese too, that is because there are many people from Japan.

Our rooms were standard and, allthough expensive, they were small and uncomfortable.

The SPA could be better, the balinese massage was not complete service even though it was more expensive than usual... The diving service is good even if the boats are very slow (40 cv) and small.

Also here the divers have nothing to do, everything is taken care of for you, the equipment is cleaned and ready to use, there is water, drinks and food on the boat too if you don’t want to wait and eat in the restaurant when get back.

You leave the the resort in the morning for the island national park of Menjangan Island, it is about 40 minutes boat ride from the resort where you have two dives, between the first and second dive you have the opportunity to go onto the island. When we were there we could see deers walking around!

Here the seabed is beautiful and full of colors, soft corals and sponges. Putu, our guide, (Putu was pretty good) was happy to find and show us lots of critters.

There is also a place with black sand called Secret Bay where the local peopre have put some iron nets to act as an artificial reef to try and make the corals grow faster, but the corals still grow slowly. There are lots of seaweeds everywhere and the visibility is very poor.

We saw some Seahorses, Frogfishes, Banka Cardinal fishes, Puffer fish and a Snake. Other divers were not lucky as we were because their guides were not as good as Putu and they saw nothing.
